Oncology is one of the most common causes of death in Russia today. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, last 2018, neoplasms caused the death of 265.7 thousand residents of Russia or 197.8 per 100 thousand of the population. Moreover, according to the data given by Professor V.V. Starinsky, about 40% of newly diagnosed malignant neoplasms have III– IV stage of the disease, which leads to a fairly high rate of one-year mortality (22.5%). To increase the life expectancy of the population and reduce mortality, it is necessary to increase the rate of detection of cancer at an early stage.
On June 20, smart mileage starts from Moscow to St. Petersburg. This is an unusual rally: it is designed to draw attention to the problems of cancer treatment. The event is supported by both patient and professional medical organizations. Smart-run will end on June 21 at the White Nights-2019 International Cancer Forum, which will be held from June 20 to 23 in St. Petersburg. The name of the rally was given by the brand of Smart cars: the participants will go on such cars.
“We decided to support this excellent initiative of our colleagues, because we know firsthand how important the prevention of cancer. So, as part of a visit to the mobile mammography complex in Kaluga during Farm Run 2019, we found that early detection of breast cancer reduces mortality by 30%. It is extremely important to promote the importance of preventive measures against cancer among the population and, without a doubt, Smart mileage will seriously contribute to this, ”said Anna Plesovskikh, General Director of the Pharmaceutical Run Interbranch Association.
